Sofas Aren't Just for the Living Room Anymore!
Sofas, loveseats and sectionals are all commonly thought of as pieces of furniture that belong in the living room. But this isn't true at all. Couches of all variety can be placed around the house as easily as they can be placed in the living room and can serve different purposes depending on where they end up. Here are three places other than the living room where a sofa would fit in perfectly.
A Comfy Seating Option for the Bedroom
With experts constantly stating that it's hard to get quality sleep when the bed is used for activities other than sleeping, sofas have quickly become a popular addition to the bedroom. A small loveseat at the foot of the bed for reading or browsing the internet before deciding to turn in can be a comfortable alternative to bundling up and staying awake for too long. Alternatively, a couch by a window can be a great way to take advantage of the view in a room that is usually ignored. Many master bedrooms are large enough to easily accommodate a sofa but in some cases stay barren, with the majority of decorating focused on the living room.
A Sofa in the Foyer can Create a Welcoming Environment
Foyers are thought of as transition areas. The hallways spiral out to the other rooms of the home, quickly leaving the entryway as an afterthought. Well, here's a thought. A small sofa in the entryway can create a very welcoming environment for guests. Besides looking nice it also serves an important function as a place where people can sit down to put their shoes on or take off their coats as they arrive. It's a great way to fill up the area and also a motivator to stop putting purses and bags down on the ground when first coming home.
Liven up the Home Office
The amount of people working from home in the technology age is massive, and with more work being done from the home more meetings will have to happen in the home. Going to a cafe or coffee shop will not always be a possibility and eventually a professional meet up will occur in the home office. Why should this be a bad thing? A small sofa with a chair or two on the other side and a table in between can turn any home office into a professional meeting space that feels as important as a Downtown Vancouver office building. Whether it's a home office, the bedroom or the foyer, a new sofa can liven up any space of the house or condo and it doesn't stop there. The family room, a kid's bedroom, the den, there are many place where a sofa could go to give everybody the opportunity to relax and rest their feet.
As the examples above show, sofas can be used for more than just watching TV. Try experimenting to see what purpose your sofa can achieve in a new room.
