Thanksgiving in Vancouver really is the best time of year. What better time of year to get together with friends and family and share a meal. The decision to host a Thanksgiving meal is a big one. Between the cooking, entertaining, and preparation there’s a lot to do! But with enough planning and organization you will be thankful to have your friends and family there to share the occasion.

First off, decide if you are going to have a potluck Friendsgiving style, or if you’re going to take the role of top chef yourself! While both have their advantages and disadvantages. A potluck style will allow you to have a bit more time to socialize with your guests, while cooking a meal for your friends can mean you get to wow everyone with your knife skills. Regardless of which you choose, a stellar dining room table is in order. Dining tables with benches make for more versatile seating than traditional chairs.

When your guests arrive, make sure to have a place for your guests to place their coats and bags. Hallway benches, with sturdy hooks placed directly above are really everything you need to keep the entryway functioning smoothly.

Once your guests have settled in, shed their coats, and are complimenting you on the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen, it’s time to offer them a beverage! A self serve bar with premixed cocktails, martinis, and a selection of cold beers and wine will keep your guests entertained until you’re ready to make the rounds. Pre-mix the cocktails and martinis ahead of time and leave a choose your own adventure garnish option for your guests to personalize their own drinks.

Lastly, have fun with the place settings! Use throw pillows on chairs to make the seating arrangement as comfortable as possible! Happy Thanksgiving!
